Sweden: choosing and checking the right record

Choose the correct source

Use Bolagsverket's Sök företagsinformation service. It replaced Näringslivsregistret, which closed in September 2025. Follow the current official service page rather than an old bookmarked search screen; check access for the document you need.

Confirm the entity

Start with the organisationsnummer and legal name. Keep the number separate from an SE-prefixed VAT identifier. Confirm whether the record concerns a company, association or another organisation before interpreting officer roles.

When the search returns nothing

Check spelling, former names and the exact organisationsnummer. A document unavailable in the public view is not evidence that it was never filed. Record authentication or source-access failures separately from a no-match result.

What the record cannot establish

Available basic information, registration certificates, accounts and ownership information are separate products or access categories. Check their current terms and document dates rather than promising every field free or live.
