Choose the correct source

Start with Brønnøysundregistrene and the organisation number. Distinguish the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities from the Register of Business Enterprises; registration in one does not make every service or document interchangeable.

Confirm the entity

Compare the nine-digit organisation number and legal name. A sub-entity or establishment can have a different number from its parent. Check which record is the contracting entity and keep VAT-registration information separate.

When the search returns nothing

Check whether the number identifies the parent organisation or an establishment and try any former legal name. A missing document, service outage or restricted field must not be presented as a definitive absence of a legal entity.

What the record cannot establish

Public entity data, filed accounts and certificates answer different questions. Use the current official document terms, preserve retrieval and reporting dates, and do not equate registry status with creditworthiness or unrestricted signing authority.
